WhyNot is a free dating app that replaces swiping with real dates. Instead of a grid of profiles to sort through, you talk to Adrian — an AI matchmaker — who finds someone worth meeting, makes the introduction, plans an actual date, and nudges you to go. WhyNot is built for iPhone and Android, for adults 18 and over, and hasn't opened to the public yet.

# Is WhyNot free?

Yes. WhyNot is free to use and supported by advertising, not by subscriptions. Matching is never pay-to-win: there are no boosts to buy, no paywalled likes, and no paying to be seen.

# How is WhyNot different from Tinder, Hinge, or Bumble?

Traditional dating apps ask you to swipe through profiles, write openers, and sustain a chat before anyone suggests meeting. WhyNot removes all of that: there is no swiping and no profile grid. Adrian, the AI matchmaker, does the filtering, breaks the ice, and proposes a specific date — a place and a time you can simply say yes to. The goal is fewer conversations and more actual dates.

Adrian is WhyNot's AI matchmaker — the character you actually talk to in the app, and the Shiba Inu mascot you see across the brand. He learns what you're looking for from a short conversation rather than a form, suggests people worth meeting, handles the introduction, and plans the date.

How it works

# How does WhyNot work?

WhyNot works in four steps. First, you tell Adrian what you're into in a short chat — no long forms. Second, Adrian finds a match and makes the introduction himself, so nobody has to write an opener. Third, he plans a real date: a specific spot and time you both agree to. Fourth, he nudges you to actually go if you get cold feet. Every step is low-pressure and always your call.

# Do I have to text back and forth before meeting?

No. On WhyNot, Adrian breaks the ice and then gets out of the way, so there's no pressure to sustain a conversation before anyone suggests meeting. The app is built to get you to a real date rather than to keep you chatting.

# What if I don't like the date Adrian suggests?

Saying no is always fine. Adrian suggests matches and plans, but nothing is booked without your agreement, and declining a suggestion costs you nothing. "Why not?" is meant to be a small, low-stakes question — not pressure.

Safety and privacy

# Is WhyNot safe?

WhyNot is an adults-only service with enforced community standards. Every profile, photo, and message can be reported, and a human reviews reports. The Community Guidelines set out what is and isn't allowed, and WhyNot operates zero-tolerance Child Safety Standards covering the sexual exploitation or abuse of minors. Dates are planned in public venues and going on any given date is always your choice.

# How old do you have to be to use WhyNot?

You must be at least 18 years old to create a WhyNot account or use the app. WhyNot is strictly an 18-and-over service with no exceptions, enforced through age gating at signup, store-level age restrictions, and account removal when we learn a user is under 18.

# Does WhyNot sell my personal information?

No. WhyNot does not sell your personal information. The details you share to build your profile are used to suggest compatible matches and are never sold or used for advertising. Because the app is ad-supported, an advertising identifier and ad-interaction data are shared with our advertising partner — but only after you allow tracking, and declining means no advertising identifier is collected or shared. # How do I report someone on WhyNot?

You can report any profile, photo, or message from inside the WhyNot app, and a human reviews every report. If you can't reach the in-app flow — or the situation is urgent — use the support page to reach the team directly. Reports about the safety of a minor are treated as the highest priority.

# When is WhyNot launching, and where?

WhyNot hasn't opened to the public yet. Join the waitlist at whynotdating.com and you'll be emailed the moment WhyNot opens in your area.

# Is WhyNot on iPhone and Android?

Yes. WhyNot is built for both iOS and Android. Neither store listing is live yet — join the waitlist at whynotdating.com to be told when they are.

# How do I delete my WhyNot account?

Open the WhyNot app, go to Account settings, and tap Delete account. Your profile is hidden immediately and deletion is scheduled with a 30-day grace period — signing back in within those 30 days cancels it, and after that it's permanent. If you've already uninstalled the app or can't sign in, you can request deletion by email from the account deletion page without reinstalling.
