Accessibility
WhyNot is an independently operated dating service run by Raymond Stump in the United States. This page describes the accessibility of the whynotdating.com website: what we've built it to do, how we check it, and how to reach us when something doesn't work with your setup.
Our standard
The website is built and tested to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. As of the review date above, our testing finds no outstanding failures against that standard on any public page. That said, no automated tool or checklist catches everything — if you hit a barrier we missed, we want to know about it, and fixing it will be treated as a bug, not a feature request.
What you can expect
- Every part of the site works with a keyboard alone, including the mobile menu and the waitlist dialogs. Focus is always visible, and a skip link at the top of each page jumps straight to the content.
- Text and interface colors meet WCAG AA contrast ratios, checked directly against our design tokens rather than eyeballed.
- Buttons, form fields, and landmarks carry the labels a screen reader needs. Decorative artwork is hidden from assistive technology.
- If your system asks for reduced motion, the site's animations — including the scrolling ticker on the home page — are turned off.
- Pages reflow at high zoom levels and on small screens without horizontal scrolling.
- We do not use an accessibility overlay or widget. Fixes go into the site's own code.
How we test
Every public page is scanned with axe-core (the engine behind most WCAG audit tools) against the WCAG 2.1 A and AA rule sets, at both desktop and mobile widths and with the menu and dialogs open. On top of that we test the interactive pieces by hand with a keyboard. The site was last audited in full on the review date shown above, and the scan is re-run when the site changes.
Technical notes
The site is plain HTML and CSS with a small amount of JavaScript. Reading any page works without JavaScript; the contact and waitlist forms need it enabled to submit. We test in current versions of Safari, Chrome, Firefox, and Edge, on desktop and mobile.
Tell us if something's broken
If any part of this website is hard or impossible for you to use, email stump865+thrivesupport@gmail.com and describe what happened, the page you were on, and the browser or assistive technology you were using. This is a small operation, so you're writing to the person who can actually fix it — you'll usually hear back within a few business days. If you need information from this site in a different format, the same address works for that too.
This statement covers the whynotdating.com website. It was prepared on August 12, 2026, and is reviewed whenever the site changes in a way that could affect accessibility.
